Charlie Bari Bachmann Artist Scholarship Fund
The staff, member artists and board of directors are deeply saddened by the sudden death on June 17 of our own Charlie Bari Bachmann. Charlie joined Creative Clay in 2008 as a teaching artist and served since 2011 as Director of Community Arts and the Folkfest St. Pete Director.
Although Charlie left Creative Clay and St. Petersburg in April 2016, to join his wife in Des Moines, Iowa, he remained a part of the Creative Clay family. Trading Florida sunshine for the cooler temperatures of Des Moines, didn’t keep Charlie far from our hearts. Our staff and artists held him in high esteem and eagerly anticipated his return, this time as a visitor, to this year’s Folkfest St. Pete.
However, that wasn’t to be, and now it is time to honor the legacy of love, teaching, inspiration, inclusivity and passion for art that is the memory of Charlie. Many have asked what they can do in the wake of his sudden passing. This scholarship fund in Charlie’s name will support individuals who desire to come to Creative Clay, but have a barrier due to finances. The Charlie Bari Bachmann Artist Scholarship Fund will give deserving, budding artists with disabilities a chance of realizing their dream and more importantly, their potential.
Thank you for making a gift in memory of Charlie. He will forever be in our hearts.
