Deb Ruby, Teaching Artist

Originally from New York, Deb became a Floridian as a child and a St. Pete resident in 2018. Her love of music began early on with a few years of piano lessons as a kid and singing in the school chorus. As an adult she sang in a women’s chorus and took notice of the healing benefits of music. In her late 30’s, a shift in values made her realize she was not meant to stay in the corporate world. She began teaching yoga, taking guitar lessons and writing songs. This new found inner space led to giving-up all possessions to travel internationally for five years while working remotely and dedicating time to musicianship development.

Deb’s unique path of experience is a mix of professional training, hands-on knowledge and intuitive development for the creative process. In her free time, Deb enjoys yoga, bike riding and spending time in nature. She is also a certified yoga and meditation teacher. Deb became involved with Creative Clay by playing live music at First Friday Art Markets. Noticing how kindness, creativity and a love of music were major themes at Creative Clay, she became eager to get more involved.
