Therese Johnson, Public Relations Coordinator
Therese has lived in St. Petersburg for most of her adult life, having moved here from Indiana in 1982. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Indiana State University with a minor in marketing. Earlier in her career, Therese provided freelance graphic design and copywriting services to advertising agencies and clients throughout the Tampa Bay area. More recently, she created marketing communications for several local non-profits.
In her free time, Therese enjoys cooking, gardening, volunteering and spending time with her family and friends. With the inspiration she now gets from Creative Clay, she also looks forward to creating some fine art again.
Therese’s enthusiasm for Creative Clay’s programs long precedes her employment here: her daughter, Lindsay, completed the Transition Program in 2008, and has been a Member Artist ever since. “I cannot imagine a better place for Lindsay to spend her days,” says Therese. “The sensitivity and respect that each artist receives is invaluable to their well-being and personal growth. Since Lindsay joined Creative Clay, she has developed a wonderful and unique artistic style, and she has truly flourished here. We feel so lucky she has access to such an amazing program!”
A favorite quote came from the response from her then-four-year-old son, Graham, after he asked why his big sister was different from other girls her age: “It’s okay, Mom. We’re all special in our own way.”
