Meet the "Color Queen", Candace Nguyen

Candace works on one of her colorful mat board designs

My name is Candace Augusta Nguyen.

I was born in Texas, and I moved here when I was a baby. I went to Tyrone Elementary and Dixie Hollins High School. I became a Member Artist in 2017. My mom isn’t alive anymore, so now I live with my sisters in Largo. I love Creative Clay because I can hang out with all my friends here.

I like drawing on matte frames with pencils. I make designs. I am a designer. My nickname is the Color Queen, because I love color!

I have two pieces of art that I did in honor of my mom. Those are my favorites. I also designed a coffee table book with my Artlink Partner, Alexis Litsch. It’s called Color Queen. Right now, I’m finishing a painting, and I’m making a mask.

Every Saturday, I love going bowling with my friends. I also like to have lunch at the mall. I love to be with my friends. I am kind, loving and respectful to them. And when I’m home, I watch TV and I color!
